Educating Christian Leaders

Building Futures on Christ

At East Martin Christian School, we know that you want to be confident that your child is not only getting a solid education, but is being prepared to stand for Christ in a lost world. You need a school that cares about your child’s heart while equipping him or her with a strong, Christian education. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find a school that both teaches your child academically and cares for his or her heart as a child of God. This often leaves you feeling frustrated, dissatisfied, and unhappy. We believe that your child deserves to be loved and cared for by teachers who will do whatever it takes to see him or her succeed not only in academics, but in a Christ-centered identity.
Statement of Beliefs:
At East Martin Christian School, we believe and teach that God is Creator and Sustainer of all things. His original creation was perfect and without sin, but mankind, having been given his own free will, disobeyed God and thus severed the relationship between God and mankind. Desiring to reconcile mankind to Himself, God demonstrated His great love for us by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect, sinless life here on earth. Jesus willingly sacrificed His own life in order to take the punishment we deserved from God upon Himself. By believing in Jesus’ death and resurrection from the dead, we can seek forgiveness from God for our sinfulness, and one day, by God’s grace, be called to live with God and believers from all ages for eternity.

At East Martin Christian School, we believe and teach that God has given us His Word, the Bible, so we may better understand Him and study the redemptive history He has laid out from the beginning of time. The Bible is infallible and teaches us how to live before God and among all His creation. God intentionally created us, either male or female, to be relational both with Himself and others, and instituted a family order that dictates that one man and one woman shall commit to one another and become one flesh. Children are to be taught the morals of God described to us in His Word and thus be equipped to live a life that honors Him.

Our History

About Us

EMCS was established in September 1942 by a group of Christian parents who wanted a Christ-centered education for their children. When it opened, EMCS consisted of two classrooms and an office. Throughout the years, as enrollment grew, additional classrooms were added. In 1998, a large gymnasium was built, not only to support educational needs, but also to serve as a gathering place for community events, programs, and activities. Today, EMCS has over 8 classrooms, a music and band room, an art room, a library, and several childcare rooms. We can proudly say that over 1,000 students have graduated from EMCS. We continue to partner with parents to continue what was begun in 1942: providing a Christ-centered education for students. We’re thankful for God’s faithfulness and provision for nearly 80 years.

about us

Spiritual Formation

Building Futures on Christ

At EMCS, our goal is to teach students to build their lives on the foundation of their faith in Jesus Christ. The focus of each subject, each lesson plan, and everything we do on a daily basis is to build on this foundation.

School-Wide Theme

Each year, EMCS chooses a school-wide theme on which to focus. Chapels, class discussions, lessons, and other activities build on this theme. Each theme helps students grow and develop a strong faith in Christ. This year, our theme is “Rooted in Christ”, based on Colossians 2:6-7.

Chapels

Each Friday, the entire school gathers in the gym for chapel to praise, worship and learn more about God. Chapels are led by the teachers and other guest speakers.

Outreach

God has called us to be the hands and feet of Christ not just in our school, but also in the community. Throughout the year, EMCS students have the opportunity to participate in various outreach activities.

Know by Heart

At EMCS, we take seriously our calling to teach each child that all things belong to Christ, including each of us. In fact, Christ knows us each by heart. We want each student to know this as well.

What We Offer

Overview- About Us

At East Martin Christian School, we provide a faith-based education for students in grades K – 8th grade. Students explore God’s world and are taught to develop their gifts in a safe environment. Each student is encouraged, challenged, and valued for how God has made them.
East Martin Christian School offers a rigorous educational experience with a curriculum that effectively prepares students for high school and beyond. Our teachers are certified by the State of Michigan. We are a member school of Christian Schools International and the Michigan Association of Non-public Schools. We also partner with All Belong.

Academic Support

“I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14a

As this verse states, we believe each child is wonderfully made with unique gifts and abilities. Because of this, EMCS offers different levels of academic, social/behavioral, spiritual, and emotional support for all of our students. We celebrate the uniqueness of each child and we encourage them in the gifts God has given them. We are committed to meeting the learning needs of all of our students. Therefore, we offer academic support, which is assisted by our partnership with All Belong.
